We’re looking for a Senior Health Promotion Communications Specialist to serve as the onsite leader and primary face of Workplace Wellbeing for a high‑profile corporate client based in Chesapeake, VA.
In this role, you’ll blend deep expertise in health promotion with advanced communications skills to drive engagement, awareness, and measurable improvement in employee wellbeing. You’ll assess organizational needs, lead the design and delivery of health programs, and develop targeted communication strategies that help employees take meaningful action toward better health.
What you will do:

Custom Communications & Marketing
Client Engagement & Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client inquiries, feedback, and requests.
- Maintain expertise in wellbeing products and services offered through the client’s UnitedHealthcare/Optum plan.
- Work closely with client HR, operations, engagement teams, and Account Management.
- Ensure full compliance with all relevant data protection laws (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.).
- Complete required training and support additional responsibilities as assigned.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor’s degree in health promotion, public health, communications, marketing, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in health promotion, wellbeing programming, or organizational behavior.
- Demonstrated experience developing multi‑channel communications (writing, editing, design).
- Strong proficiency with Canva for creating clear, engaging, and on‑brand communication materials.
- Strong public speaking, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
- Prior experience in a health plan or consulting environment is preferred.
Additional knowledge and experience that you can bring to this role, but which is not required:
- Master’s degree in health promotion management, public health or a related field.
- Related health promotion or public health certification, such as National Commission for Health Education Credentialing (NCHEC), WellCert Certified Wellness Practitioner or CHES (Certified Health Education Specialist).
- Five years of industry experience.
