What You'll Do :

As a Health Underwriter youll medically underwrite applications submitted for case benefits and coverages under one of our group plans and convey our decisions to customers.

Here are a few examples of the types of things you'll do :

• Review and process evidence of insurability applications consistent with our company's policies and in compliance with various state statutes and legislation.
• Communicate and convey the correct information to our policyholders, administrators and applicants by written correspondence and complete file setup.
• Answer questions received via phone calls from internal and external customers regarding declination, status, etc.
• Facilitate current and future underwriting evaluation through file documentation. Provide clear and understandable audit trail for future claims, service work and legal handling.
• Cross Train and assist Group Underwriting on various tasks.
• Perform other job-related duties as required including complete follow ups and close-outs in a timely manner.

Salary Range Information :

Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and / or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range :

18.39 - $35.19 / hour

Time Off Program :

Personal Time Off (PTO) is provided to hourly (non-exempt) employees and provides a set amount of accrued time earned each pay period. Employees can use their PTO for vacation, personal or short-term illness.

Work Environments

This role offers in-office, hybrid (blending at least three office days in a typical workweek), and remote work arrangements (only if residing more than 30 miles from Des Moines, IA, or Charlotte, NC). Youll work with your leader to figure out which option may align best based on several factors.
