Investigates and resolves incidents and grievances (including sexual misconduct allegations, and reports to appropriate regulatory agencies, when required); creates and documents investigative files; resolves disputes / claims with patient and / or family members; resolves facility risk related issues. Monitors and manages legal claims with defense counsel, sets reserves, interviews person(s) involved in claims, assists with depositions and trials, answers interrogatories. Assists with developing educational programs and learning modules for orientation and ongoing education, as well as upon request by various departments regarding risk topics. Takes call evenings, nights, and holidays in rotation with other risk managers. Assists with developing and / or reviewing policies and Standard Work. Initiates reports to insurance carrier and regulatory agencies; assesses damages and injury for claims, answers interrogatories and request to produce for claims, prepares staff for depositions and trials, and manages and coordinates claims with defense counsel. Identifies opportunities for the improvement of quality, safety and cost, as well as patient, customer, and employee satisfaction.
