The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing full-time, part-time and longevity payroll through ADP Work Force Now and verifying the accuracy of payroll reports. Responsibilities include ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining employee payroll files, preparing payments for vendors, assisting with County elections, and preparing a variety of reports.
Job Responsibilities :
- Enters, maintains, and / or processes information in the payroll system accurately and in a timely manner; information may include employee's hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, and other information.
- Ensure proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
- Processing deductions for benefits, retirement plans, and other payroll items.
- Reconciling payroll data with other financial systems.
- Ensuring compliance with payroll regulations, including tax laws and labor standards.
- Preparing and distributing payroll reports.
- Maintain accurate and up to date payroll records.
- Analyzing payroll audit reports and resolving discrepancies.
- Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
- Prepare estimates for workers compensation insurance and assist in the work comp audit.
- Answer voter-related questions over the phone, in person or through e-mail. Process election related mail.
- Assist with preparation for County primaries and general elections.
- Provide support and assistance to clients, co-workers, and other County offices
Minimum Qualifications :
Associate degree in accounting, Finance, or closely related field plus three years of relevant experience or bachelor's degree plus one year of relevant experience. A comparable combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications :
Proficiently using ADP Workforce Now. Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Knowledge of County accounting and financial reporting.
Compensation
22.86 - $24.03 per hour
