Survey Technician / Instrument Man / Rodman
Job Summary
Metro Engineering and Survey, LLC. is searching for an Entry-Level Instrument Man / Rodman with high integrity and an excellent attention to detail. The primary duty is to assist the Crew Chief with the use of all survey equipment such as GPS, Robotic total station, base stations, and levels. Must understand the importance of being accurate and precise. Maintains working relationship with Crew Chief and field crew.
Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. Other ancillary duties may be assigned.
- Will work primarily in the field on control, construction surveys, as Instrument Man / Rodman of a one, two or three-person field crew.
- May also perform some office duties, including data reduction, field note reduction, calculations, data checks and staking computations using survey computer programs and AutoCAD.
- Accurately and efficiently clears line, establishes points, tape, chain, and level for field survey projects as assigned by Crew Chief.
- Keeps crew's assigned vehicle clean, properly maintained, and stocked with the necessary equipment and supplies as instructed by the Crew Chief. Reports any mechanical or safety related problems to the Crew Chief.
- Communicates and coordinates effectively with other crew members to facilitate the timely and accurate completion of assigned projects.
- Observes all safety guidelines and procedures, particularly when working around traffic or on active construction sites.
- Know, understand and demonstrate safe working / operating methods of assigned tools and equipment.
