Summary of Primary Functions :
Dobbs Equipment is seeking an experienced Track, Service Technician. This position is responsible for performing inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy equipment undercarriage in a shop environment. Will work alone or in teams. It will involve removing and installing complete undercarriages which include tracks, roller frames, rollers, idlers, and sprocket segments. It will also require performing repairs on broken link assemblies which will include the use of a cutting torch. This job description does not include a complete listing of all the duties and functions of the position. Management reserves the right to assign other duties or projects as necessary.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Other duties may be assigned)
- Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments while maintaining a safe work environment and safe work habits.
- Work alone with a limited amount of supervision.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
- Report any additional work required on equipment to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer.
- Participate in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Bring to the attention of the Service Manager any shop tools, equipment or vehicle that is not in a serviceable condition or is unsafe to use.
- Always conduct self to present a professional image of the dealership.
- Extensive knowledge of John Deere equipment, specifically Undercarriage, including their designs, repair, and maintenance is required. (Experience with other comparable brand equipment will be considered on a case-by-case basis.)
- Perform any inspections as required.
- Check and report any shortages and malfunctions to the Service Manager.
- Knowledge and proficiency with current computer software and related hardware are required.
- Ability to remove and install tracks, rollers, idlers, and sprockets is required.
- Ability to operate equipment is required.
- Perform all service tasks as assigned by the Service Manager, Supervisor, or Shop Foreman.
- Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments.
- Report to Service Manager any additional work required to ensure proper operation and safety of equipment.
- Participate in service training programs required for development of skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Bring to the attention of the Service Manager any shop tools, equipment or vehicle that is not in a serviceable condition or is unsafe to use.
- Represent the dealership as a professional Service Technician at all times.
- Maintain and care for shop tools, equipment, vehicles, and other employee's belongings.
- Reports to work on time, as scheduled.
- Ability to work up to 12-hour days, varying shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to operate company vehicles and follow all motor vehicle state safety laws (if necessary).

Work Environment :
While performing the functions of this job, the employee regularly works in a service shop setting and is exposed to frequently changing temperatures, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibration, fumes, odors, dust, and close proximity to moving mechanical parts.
