Location: 4060 Fairview Industrial Dr. SE, Salem, OR 97302

Compensation: $40.23 per hour

Sign-On: $5,000 sign-on bonus (See Hiring Manager for details)

Employment Type: Hourly, full-time; shift to be determined

A day in the role

Picture your day starting on the plant floor, where production is humming and reliability matters. You move from a scheduled PM on a hydraulic system to an urgent call on a packaging line, reading work orders, reviewing manuals, and putting your mechanical know-how to work. One moment you’re diagnosing a pneumatic fault with an electric meter; the next, you’re swapping a worn bearing, testing, and dialing in the final adjustments. You’ll wrap up by documenting your work in the system and leaving the area clean, safe, and ready for the next shift.

What you will do
  • Install, maintain, and repair production machinery and facility equipment.
  • Respond to unplanned downtime with safe, efficient troubleshooting and corrective action; complete scheduled maintenance during service windows.
  • Carry out basic machinist tasks and perform multi-craft duties across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Interpret equipment manuals and work orders to execute required service.
  • Diagnose issues, replace or repair parts, test performance, and make precise adjustments.
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance for machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
  • Handle routine plumbing and carpentry work as needed.
  • Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment to complete assignments.
  • Identify faulty operations or defective materials and promptly report to supervision.
  • Follow all safety regulations and keep work areas orderly and clean.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Environment and schedule
  • Manufacturing setting with typical physical hazards including noise, fumes, and dust. Required PPE: safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, and face shields.
  • No travel required.
  • Workload can vary; peak periods may bring substantial pressure and critical deadlines. Expect occasional extra hours, including some weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Irregularities in workflow and schedule occur intermittently.
Physical capabilities
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Occasional crouching, stooping, and climbing up to 60 vertical steps; frequent walking on uneven ground.
  • Reach at arm’s length frequently and overhead occasionally; twist/turn at neck and trunk.
  • Continual handling and grasping of tools and parts; clear communication by speech and hearing.
  • Close visual acuity for detailed work; strong mental dexterity to work independently with attention to detail and continuous awareness.
What you bring
  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical degree or completion of an apprenticeship is preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing production environment; packaging manufacturing experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of prior industrial maintenance experience is highly preferred.
  • Willingness to work the assigned shift (to be determined), plus weekends and overtime as required, sometimes on short notice.
  • Strong safety and quality record; solid mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Comfort with computers and data entry; prior CMMS exposure is a plus.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated work style; able to follow written procedures reliably and safely.
  • Professional attitude and effective communication skills.
