Purpose Of Position
The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Equipment support, equipment maintenance, and light and heavy vehicles on assigned projects or activities of a public works nature. The position requires manual labor, completed alone or as part of a crew. You will perform a variety of manual tasks and activities, i.e., perform work in stormwater maintenance. Work includes on-site maintenance, cleaning, servicing equipment, emergency needs, vehicles, tools, and the work area. Inspects vehicles for required supplies, materials, and equipment. Observe and follow safety procedures and precautions at work sites. This position is designated among essential personnel and requires reporting to work during all significant weather events or emergencies.

Physical characteristics : The job requires to be able to twist and kneel for up to 6 hours daily : bend, turn, climb, crouch, and crawl up to 2 hours daily; stoop for up to 3 hours daily; walk, sit, and stand up to 4 hours daily; grasp objects up to 8 hours daily, lift and carry up to 80-lbs., push or pull up to 20-lbs., grasp up to 8-hours. May be exposed to vehicular traffic and must follow all maintenance of traffic (MOT) procedures.
Environmental factors : This is an essential department, all staff will be called to SERVE with all storms, catastrophes, emergencies, or as otherwise needed. Physical ability to work under temperature extremes and for extended hours. Working within confined spaces can be necessary for some tasks. Working in the proximity of light and heavy machinery.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED preferred. Must have one (1) year of experience in the care and handling of a 3-ton and / or 5-ton dump truck safely around others, as well as the mechanical experience to make minor repairs on the equipment listed above. A combination of education, experience, or training that has prepared the incumbent to perform the essential duties of the position. Must have a Texas Class "A" Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement and a good driving record throughout the length of employment. Must have a strong work ethic and be able to manage time to meet deadlines effectively.
