Gonzalez Companies is a partner managed firm that provides comprehensive Planning, Design, and Construction Management Services to large and small Water, Sewer and Utility Districts; Departments of Transportation; and municipalities. We are currently seeking a Transportation / Highway Inspector to help serve our connection of clients and community. If youre hungry for knowledge, ready to make a difference and dedicated to providing personalized attention to our clients, we want you on our team. The targeted compensation in the state of Illinois is $35-$40 / hour.
Your Primary Responsibilities will include
- Perform on-site inspection of construction projects including highways, bridges, and roadways to ensure compliance with project specifications, MoDOT / IDOT standards, and safety regulations.
- Review construction plans, shop drawings, and materials to verify conformance with approved designs and applicable codes.
- Document construction activities daily through detailed reports, photographs, and field notes.
- Conduct material sampling and testing (asphalt, concrete, soils, aggregates) according to MoDOT / IDOT procedures.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and schedule requirements.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to resolve field issues efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of project progress, materials used, and any non-compliance issues.
- Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings to communicate inspection findings and recommendations.
- Identify, document, and report discrepancies or deficiencies to the project engineer or manager promptly.
- Stay current with MoDOT / IDOT construction standards, specifications, and procedures.
