CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Drainage Engineer - Highway to join our Infrastructure - Transportation / Highway & Rail Team at our office in Rocky Hill or Hartford, CT; Norwell, MA; Providence, RI; or Keene, New Hampshire.

CHA's transportation team embraces new challenges from roads and highways to roundabouts and rail lines.
The Drainage Engineer - Highway performs drainage design including calculations, technical reports and design plans for civil and transportation projects, including hydrology, stormwater management, pipe capacity, swales, gutter spread, culverts, bridge hydraulics, and scour analysis. The individual in this role works on multiple projects in a timely and cost-effective manner to meet client, contractual and company requirements.
The Drainage Engineer - Highway develops conceptual and detailed designs using current CAD programs and drainage software; consults and collaborates with design teams and project managers for project development, design, and delivery; works closely and coordinates with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects; and prepares high quality deliverables that are on time and within budget and scope. Additionally, the individual in this role completes field assignments when appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related required
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Minimum 3 years related engineering experience required
- Strong drainage design knowledge required
- CTDOT, MassDOT, and / or RIDOT experience a plus
- Proven ability to apply practical knowledge for transportation & civil engineering
- Proficient in engineering, computational, and modeling software (HydroCAD, StormCAD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
- Understands QA / QC procedures
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences
- Desire to work in a collaborative team environment with the willingness to assist more senior staff
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software required
- Participation in a professional engineering society / organization a plus
- Ability to travel occasionally (a few times per month for regional site visits)
