Job Description
The Hot Inspector is responsible for determining in-process compliances to internal and external requirements for forgings. This position will work closely with multiple personnel in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Must be able to perform accurate visual and dimensional inspection of parts during the forging process and inform Supervisor, Operator, Quality, and Engineering of any nonconformances found during in-process inspections .
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verify shop floor paperwork is correct including part number, drawing revision, and material grade.
- Perform dimensional and visual conformity throughout the forging process including first article inspection and approval.
- Monitor furnace temperatures to ensure materials are forged at correct temperature compared to shop floor traveler.
- Ensure operators are sending samples to be Nondestructively Tested (FPI or MPI based on material grade) at each point of visual and dimensional inspection throughout the production run.
- Tag boxes of nonconforming parts and submit rework instructions as required.
- Submit a daily report including each piece of equipment and findings from each production job.
- Input and interpret measurement SPC data as required.
- Verify material hardness as required.
- Fill out scrap tickets as appropriate.
- Verify Material Composition with the use of XRF equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS :
