Job Description
ResponsibilitiesFort Lauderdale behavioral Health Center is a -bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in the beautiful Oakland Park neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, FL. FLBHC features individual units for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over , patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center.
We are pleased to announce the following available position:
Hospital Biller/Collector
- Maximize cash collections and minimize bad debt, while maintaining the integrity of each patient’s account.
- Maintain knowledge Medicare/ Medicaid billing requirements
- Understanding of Medicare codes for correct claim billing
- Working knowledge of FISS system to adjust and correct RTP claims
- Institutionalized billing a must with knowledge of UB
- Claims submission, claim edits, Edit/update claim information to meet billing compliance guidelines for electronic and paper claim submission
- Insurance follow up, denial management, patient follow-up, for assigned payers
- Accuracy in the handling of refunds, overpayments on accounts and transfers payments to the appropriate account
- Accurately and thoroughly document pertinent collection activity performed
- Verify claims adjudication utilizing appropriate resources and applications
- Initiate telephone and/or letter contact with parties responsible for reimbursement for services provided
- Demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations by appropriately handling patient information

Qualifications
Education/Training:
- High School Diploma required, some college work preferred
- CPR certification
Experience:
- Medicare & hospital, billing and collections experience required , medical collections preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Knowledge of coordination of benefits rules along with insurance contracts and payment rates.
- Review and work the Bill Selection Error Report daily to ensure accurate and timely billing
- Knowledge of patient accounting system, documentation of patient and insurance collections.
- Demonstrate the ability of analyze and resolve outstanding patient accounts in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements.
- Knowledge of third party insurance electronic and paper billing rules and regulations.
- All insurance accounts accurately billed to respective payers within hours of bill drop.
- Knowledge of managed care contracts, payment plans
- Demonstrated proficiency in data entry and keyboarding skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal and external customers.
