I am seeking a Medical Director for a full-service veterinary hospital that places the care, diagnosis, and treatment of pets as their primary concern. The individual in this role will manage the hospital and ensure the highest quality of veterinary care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity of the veterinary medical team. The Medical Director is also responsible for mentoring, training, and collaborating with the hospital’s team of doctors.
The Medical Director should also know how to have fun and be able to lead a positive culture within the hospital and encourage staff to value the balance of work and personal life. Ideal qualities include being personable, humble, confident, hardworking, and dedicated to high quality companion animal general practice (internal medicine and general surgery).
Medical Director Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up plans for treatment that follow strict standards, conduct surgeries
- Communicates with Hospital Administrator
- Mentors associate veterinarians and hospital team to deliver excellent care and build client relationships
- Establishes an atmosphere where all personnel are respected
- Stays current of new developments in the veterinary field
- Follows all state and federal rules and regulations
- Takes part in outside company sponsored events
Medical Director Compensation
- $150,000 DOE – $185,000 DOE (generous competitive salary, with production bonus, (negotiable depending upon experience and medical/surgical skills, no negative accrual)

Medical Director Desired Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, or equivalent, from an accredited university
- Active and clear State License in the applicable State
- Experience in GP or surgery
- Leadership experience a plus
- At least 2-5 years of experience
- High clinical standards - Committed to compassionate, exceptional veterinary care
- Dedicated to building a progressive and united culture
- Exceptional communication skills, energetic, organized, meticulous, and outgoing
- Enthusiastic about teaching leadership skills and mentoring staff
