JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Volunteer Coordinator Assistant is responsible for helping the Volunteer Coordinator with administrative duties and grief support. This is a non-exempt position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Assists in compiling monthly statistics.
2.Assists in maintaining current volunteer files.
3.Assists in health screenings and other processes for new volunteers.
4.Assists in support / education meetings.
5.Provides information to individuals and community groups about hospice volunteer services.
6.Assists in grief and caregiver support as needed.
7.Promotes Hospice of Midland in the community.
8.Supports the Hospice of Midland Mission and Values.
9.Completes other projects and duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
1.High school diploma required; college degree, advanced degree in human services preferred.
2.Hospice and / or volunteer experience preferred.
3.Understands hospice philosophy.
4.Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and / or organization requirements and is in good working order.
5.Must be punctual, reliable and available during office hours of 8 : 30 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.m. Monday through Friday; duties may include regular hours outside of these.
6.Ability to organize and develop volunteer hospice personnel for both patient and organizational needs.

7.Organization personnel are expected to participate in appropriate education as may be requested by their immediate supervisor. In addition, organization personnel are expected to accept personal responsibility for other educational activities to enhance job-related skills and abilities. All personnel must attend mandatory educational programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The Volunteer Coordinator Assistant must be able to sit, stand, squat, bend, kneel, twist and climb. They must also be able to lift and push / pull up to 25 pounds. They also occasionally are exposed to dust, walk on uneven or rough ground, and work near moving equipment. Hands will be used for repetitively grasping and turning, fine manipulation and speed work.
ENVIRONMENTAL AND WORKING CONDITIONS
1.May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold in all weather conditions. Must drive in various weather conditions on roads in varying degrees of repair.
2.May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. May be exposed to patient elements. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. Travel required. OSHA Exposure Category I (position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues).
