Job Summary :
The Host / Hostess at Swahili Village is the first point of contact for guests, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. This role requires professionalism, warmth, and efficiency in managing reservations, seating, and guest inquiries. The Host / Hostess will ensure a welcoming environment that reflects the high service standards at Swahili Village, contributing to smooth restaurant operations and positive guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities :
Guest Reception & Interaction :
Greet guests warmly upon arrival, confirm reservations, and manage the waitlist with professionalism and poise.
Seating Coordination :
Manage the seating chart to maximize table turnover while balancing guest flow and minimizing wait times.
Reservation Management :
Accurately take phone and online reservations, answer questions about the restaurant, and provide information about menu offerings and special events.
Guest Services & Problem Resolution :
Address any guest concerns or special requests promptly and ensure guest satisfaction by coordinating with management and staff as needed.
Communication with Staff :
Maintain effective communication with the servers, kitchen, and management to ensure a smooth service flow, updating staff on table statuses and guest needs.
Ambiance & Presentation :
Ensure that the host area, entrance, and waiting areas are clean, organized, and visually appealing, enhancing the upscale atmosphere of Swahili Village.
Event Support :
Assist in managing private dining and events, coordinating seating arrangements and guest arrival to provide a seamless experience.
Qualifications : Experience :
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Host / Hostess or similar role in a high-end or fine-dining establishment preferred.
Skills :
Excellent verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and a friendly, engaging demeanor.
Personal Traits :
Professional, courteous, and able to remain calm and composed under pressure.
Technological Proficiency :
Familiarity with reservation management systems and POS systems is a plus.
Work Environment :
High-end, fast-paced restaurant environment.
Flexible schedule with potential evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
Requires prolonged standing and the ability to carry trays up to 30 lbs.
