Job description

Building Strong Partnerships That Drive Better Workplaces

As an HR Consultant at TalentPro, you will serve as a trusted advisor to client leaders, helping them navigate complex people challenges with confidence and clarity. You will partner closely with organizations across industries, leveraging deep expertise in employment law - particularly California regulations - to deliver practical, compliant, and business-aligned HR solutions. In this highly consultative role, you’ll translate strategy into action, mitigate risk, and help clients build strong, effective workplaces that support their long-term goals.

Why TalentPro?

TalentPro delivers comprehensive payroll, HR, and time management solutions that support clients across the United States.

We believe our work matters. We are driven by the impact we create—for our customers, our communities, and each other. We believe that every voice counts, and that meaningful contribution is not limited by title or tenure. Collaboration, curiosity, and courage fuel our progress, and together, we build a culture where everyone belongs and everyone contributes.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an HR Consultant, you will act as a trusted extension of your clients’ leadership teams, delivering strategic and compliant HR guidance across a broad range of people functions.

Client Partnership & Strategy

  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with assigned clients by gaining a deep understanding of their business models, workforce, and goals.
  • Align people strategies with client business objectives, ensuring HR initiatives support growth, performance, and sustainability.
  • Lead monthly client meetings, delivering insights, recommendations, and follow-up actions that drive high customer satisfaction.

HR Consulting & Advisory

  • Provide expert guidance across the full spectrum of HR functions, including:
  • Development and maintenance of employee handbooks, job descriptions, and workplace policies
  • Compensation analysis, pay structures, and compensation strategy
  • Hiring, onboarding, employee engagement, and retention initiatives
  • Performance evaluation frameworks, expectations, and outcomes
  • Employee relations matters such as dispute resolution, corrective action, leaves of absence (LOA), and reductions in force (RIF)
  • Culture initiatives, DEI principles, EEO compliance, and discrimination prevention
  • Compliance with federal and multi-state employment laws, with a strong emphasis on California labor law
  • Identify potential legal and compliance risks and proactively recommend mitigation strategies.

Data, Compliance & Thought Leadership

  • Analyze HR metrics and workforce trends to deliver data-driven recommendations to clients.
  • Stay current on employment law changes, HR best practices, and industry trends, translating updates into practical, client-ready guidance.
  • Design and deliver training sessions and webinars for clients and internal teams on HR best practices, compliance updates, and emerging trends.

What You’ll Need for This Position

  • 8+ years of progressive HR advising experience, preferably in a client-facing or consulting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Proven consulting skills with the ability to distill complex information and deliver clear, concise, and actionable guidance
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws, with a strong concentration in California
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Polished written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and advanced problem-solving capabilities
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and employee relations expertise
  • Exceptional organization and project management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms and related HR technology tools
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed (up to 10%)

Bonus Skills

  • Experience supporting clients in the agriculture industry
  • HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or PHRca)
  • Spanish language proficiency

What’s in it for You

  • Remote-based role from California (or Pacific Time Zone) with flexibility and autonomy
  • The opportunity to work as a strategic advisor with diverse clients across industries
  • Exposure to complex, high-impact HR challenges that build long-term consulting expertise
  • A collaborative, values-driven culture where your expertise and voice matter
