About the Role
We’re searching for a detail-oriented and collaborative HR Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Mesa, AZ. In this key role, you’ll administer and optimize our benefits, claims, leave, and compensation programs—ensuring employee offerings are competitive, compliant, and aligned with our strategic goals. You’ll enhance employee satisfaction and retention while driving operational excellence across the organization.
What You’ll Do
Benefits & Leave Management (45%)
Guide employees and managers on benefit programs and resolve related inquiries
Review and approve benefit status changes (Life Events, QMCSOs, QDROs) according to plan provisions and legal requirements
Monitor, communicate, and track leave of absence approvals and denials
Maintain benefit recordkeeping files and coordinate documentation for life, retirement, and disability claims
Assist with open enrollment preparation, plan testing, and employee support
Conduct audits of benefit elections to ensure deduction accuracy in HRIS
Submit and track monthly invoices for group insurance policies, including COBRA
Collaborate with marketing and vendors to update benefit and 401(k) communication materials
Compliance & Policy Development (35%)
Assist in developing and maintaining HR policies and procedures
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (FMLA, ADA, EEO, wage / hour)
Prepare documentation for audits, filings, and internal reviews
File and coordinate workers’ compensation and auto claims within required deadlines
Review Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs), issue pre-adverse action notices, and maintain monitoring data
Support compensation benchmarking and job documentation processes
Process Optimization & Cross-Functional Projects (15%)
Document and enhance workflows and SOPs
Coordinate cross-functional teams to implement HR tools and initiatives
HR Communications & Change Support (5%)
Draft and distribute internal communications related to HR programs and benefits
Prepare employee salary letters (merit increases, bonuses) using mail merge templates
Support change management efforts
What You Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
3–5 years’ experience in benefits administration, total rewards, HR compliance, and data analysis
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUP)
Experience with HRIS and HCM platforms
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in a fast-paced, multi-functional HR environment
Knowledge of employment law and HR compliance best practices
Familiarity with compensation survey tools and benchmarking methodologies
Project coordination or process improvement experience
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with HR trends
