Description
Your role at GEI.
Our Glastonbury, CT office is seeking a driven and experienced Senior Civil, Geotechnical, or Water Resources Engineer to add technical, project management, and business development expertise to our growing Water Control and Conveyance team. The ideal candidate will provide high level technical assistance to our current industry experts and clients, while also helping mentor and guide the team of the future.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties
Design of site / civil development plans addressing federal and state permitting, and local jurisdiction planning and zoning requirements. Development sites will include utility, flood control, coastal resiliency / structures and land / site development property improvements and infrastructure. Must possess strong leadership and communication skills and be proficient in report and proposal writing, presentations, and business development.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. degree in Civil, Structural, Water Resources or Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineering license required.
- 10+ years progressive experience in Civil or Geotechnical engineering with extensive technical background in field of expertise and at least 5+ years in a project management role and client relationship management role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Municipal and State contract knowledge, Flood Plain Regulations, FEMA Levee Accreditation, Transmission Line Construction, and Coastal Permitting;
- Advanced technical skills in one or more of water resources related fields including flood control design and inspection, dams and levees, water conveyance, stormwater management, hydraulics / hydrological analysis, coastal structures, flood plain management and site development, and mechanical systems related to water resources.
- Ability to design and oversee design including layout, drainage, infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, etc. from concept through design and permitting, and to completion;
- Experience with cost estimating for civil engineering projects
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and development of state and federal permit documents including USACE 408 Permitting, USACE 404 Permitting, CT DEEP 401 Permitting, and CT DEEP Dam Safety
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities;
- Ability and willingness to travel periodically
