In this role, the candidate will focus on technical work and project management – independently on smaller projects or as a team member on larger projects. Previous consulting or water resource engineering related experience is highly preferable. Our projects range from planning and permitting to design, engineering and construction. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, embrace teamwork, and have the desire to grow and develop professionally. As part of our team, you will have an opportunity to contribute to our strategic direction, help us pursue our growth goals, and provide our clients with responsive, high quality customer service. There is flexibility for this role to be full-time or to work a part-time schedule (minimum ~30 hours a week). Schedule to be confirmed during the candidate selection process.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Participate and support on a wide variety of water related projects, including project management activities, planning and conceptual design, and detailed design and implementation.

  • Perform or review all aspects of design (grading, drainage, water, hydrology, erosion control, etc.) with an emphasis on technical and project delivery excellence.

  • Lead water resource planning studies for conveyance, flood analysis, water quality and ecological benefits.

  • Complete tasks and delegate specific project tasks to other team members as appropriate.

  • Prepare technical reports, concept designs, construction specifications, construction drawings, bidding documents, and permit applications for approval.

  • Participate in the permitting process of projects, which may require meetings with clients, contractors, reviewing agency personnel, and governing entities.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Has well-developed understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and conveyance engineering design, including open channel, bank stabilization and stream restoration, geotechnical, and civil design.

  • Possess excellent time management skills with a thorough understanding of task assignment, schedule, and budgeting.

  • Efficient use of time and resources with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficient in hydrology modeling and 1D & 2D hydraulic modeling software, such as HydroCAD, SWMM, RAS; knowledge of design software (GIS, CAD) – working experience a plus.

  • Ability to travel as needed for team meetings, client consultations, on-site inspections, etc.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in environmental or civil engineering or related field.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer or can be obtained within 6 to 12 months of employment. Expected to become licensed in MN and ND, at minimum.

  • Minimum of (five) 5 years of experience.

Typical office environment working with computers. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.\
