Will inspect and test heating and air conditioning systems to ensure proper functioning; troubleshoot, repair, and install electronic temperature control systems, electronic circuitry, and other building system equipment; maintain, diagnose, and repair microprocessors and associated instrumentation related to building automation systems; perform tests and adjustments of input and output devices and setup and maintain history and documentation files; troubleshoot electronic circuitry; receive work order assignments, order materials, and complete tasks accurately with detailed written comments provided on work orders upon completion; complete time entry to supervisor on a daily basis with comments; perform scheduled preventative maintenance on building equipment; clean work area and maintain tools and equipment; and provide customers with information about the progress of work.Job RequirementsREQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; five years of work experience in applicable trade / field or formal controls training in mechanical operations and maintenance; valid driver’s license; general understanding of the Institute’s building automation systems; ability to read a ladder diagram, blueprints, and schematics; and ability to lift up to 50 lbs. PREFERRED : experience with Phoenix control valves and working in labs. Job #20338 Working Conditions : ascending / descending stairs, traversing the campus, moving about the jobsite and machinery to access equipment and / or remaining stationary for extended periods of time; working from ladders, scaffolds, and other above-ground locations such as roofs; wearing of personal protective equipment as required by the specific assignment; wearing MIT provided ARC flash rated clothing; exposure to dust, odors, and fumes, high levels of noise and temperature extremes; working with and around chemicals and solvents, near steam and moving machinery, and in tight areas and confined spaces such as manholes and crawl spaces; and working outdoors in inclement weather. Work with hazardous material may also be required.Schedule : Monday - Friday, 7 : 00 A.M. - 3 : 00 P.M.Employees assigned to an irregular shift are considered essential personnel. During emergencies, these employees are excused from their regularly scheduled work only with the specific authorization of their supervisor, regardless of any public announcement that the Institute is closed. Other employees, who work a regular established work schedule, are not considered essential personnel but may be required to work other shifts on an as-needed basis.
