CDC FoundationCaliforniaOverview
The Project Implementation Manager will drive the delivery of technical projects that improve the use of public health data to inform decision making. This role is aligned to the Workforce Acceleration Initiative (WAI). WAI is a federally funded CDC Foundation program with the goal of helping the nation’s public health agencies by providing them with the technology and data experts they need to accelerate their information system improvements. Working within the Science Branch in the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCC PHD)the Project Implementation Manager will collaborate across technical and non-technical teams to define project objectives, allocate resources, coordinate with teams, and manage timelines to ensure the successful delivery and implementation of a public health data systems project. The primary projects that the project manager will lead implementation are related to :
- Expand capacity for SCCPHD to process and use electronic case report (eCR) data in improving the quality and timeliness of the data used to make public health decisions. The project would build a foundation upon which future emerging disease response and public health program needs from eCR data can be quickly and seamlessly implemented.
- Expand the data sources available in the SCCPHD AWS Data Platform and improve the capacity for the Data Platform to quickly accommodate new data sources and changes in source systems. This will allow SCCPHD to limit delays in data being available for making public health decisions. This is especially critical when novel diseases appear, or outbreaks occur. In these situations, data requirements are in constant flux - our data platform architecture needs the flexibility to adapt at the pace of this flux and provide timely situational awareness. The Project Implementation Manager will be hired by the CDC Foundation and assigned to the Science Branch, SCC PHD. This position is eligible for a fully remote work arrangement for based candidates.
