Position Summary :
Securian Financial is seeking an experienced cybersecurity professional to join our Cybersecurity Governance team and to drive change across the enterprise. Our team is responsible for cybersecurity policies, processes, and strategies to ensure effective management, protection, and oversight of our information systems and digital assets. This position is critical to the implementation and operation of the cybersecurity governance function by ensuring critical controls are implemented and operating in accordance with the requirements and risk tolerance of our organization. A successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the company's security posture and guiding risk-informed decisions that shape our secure future.
Responsibilities include but not limited to :
- Lead cybersecurity governance programs and projects that drive efficiencies and ensure compliance to our cybersecurity and business requirements.
- Apply a risk-based approach to review, assess, and report on the existence and adequacy of security controls across technical and business functions in accordance with the organization's threat landscape and risk tolerance.
- Prepare and present reports for leadership outlining findings, non-compliance issues, and actionable recommendations for remediation.
- Use knowledge and skills to influence remediation and prioritization of key risks while demonstrating holistic understanding and management of risks according to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with all levels of the business to drive change and improve our security posture.
- Support cross-functional services within the department as needed.
- Stay up to date and informed on developing regulatory concerns and changing IT and information security trends.
- Embrace and influence a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating, collaborating, and implementing program and service improvement opportunities.
- A bachelor's degree in information security, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of experience in Governance, Risk, or Compliance, preferably in the cybersecurity or privacy related fields.
- Understanding of information security principles, standards, tools, and methodologies.
- Experience with developing and implementing information security policies, procedures, controls, and frameworks.
- Experience working with cybersecurity or privacy best practices and frameworks such as, NIST, COBIT, ISO27001, ISO27017, or PCI.
- Ability to translate business requirements into security guidance aligning with standards and policy expectations.
- Proven ability to manage and lead multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact.
- Ability to work independently and strategically.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and leadership.
- A commitment to continuous improvement and staying current with the latest cybersecurity trends and technologies.
- Completed or pursuing one or more professional certifications such as Security+, CISA, CRISC, CISM, CISSP, ISO27001, or other relevant cybersecurity certifications.
- Experience managing or developing cybersecurity or privacy policy and control libraries to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in identifying and analyzing controls and developing effective mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and drive large, complex initiatives within a cybersecurity program.
- Experience working in a hybrid work environment, demonstrating the ability to effectively manage tasks both remotely and in-person.
- This position will have a hybrid working arrangement, working in-office for a minimum of 3 days a week.

The estimated base pay range for this job is :
84,000.00 - $155,000.00
Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
