Office of Data and InnovationSacramento County, USJob Description and Duties
This position provides telework opportunities in accordance with agency telework policies. ODI is currently operating in a hybrid work environment with staff reporting to the office 2 days a week to either Sacramento HQ or our Oakland Hub.
We are seeking a Lead Platform Engineer for Data to join the Data Services and Engineering team at ODI, a team filled with bright and empathetic data people. ODI works across all departments in the state, with data that touches all Californians. You will find that the problems and challenges we engage with require the heart as much as the mind. As our Lead Platform Engineer, you will :
- Be responsible for establishing the blueprint of ODI’s modern data stack.
- Bring a user orientation to your work.
- Complement the Data Services and Engineering team skillsets with your depth of experience in architecting data platforms in the cloud, developing infrastructure as code, and setting up effective CI / CD workflows for analytics.
- Help identify and vet tools that meet the architectural blueprint.
- Adopt a platform mindset avoiding bespoke solutions in favor of cloud-first, sustainable, and scalable solutions that address common needs across many projects and clients.
You will join a team of data and analytics engineering professionals supporting the Office of Data and Innovation (ODI). The team develops shared platforms, services, and standards for data usage at ODI and across the State. You will work closely with the team to identify elegant patterns and architectures to support better use of data for decision making. Over time these patterns may become recommended standards and at minimum our learnings will be shared with departments to guide them on the path toward adopting analytics engineering practices supported by modern data platforms.
