Job description

Job Description and Duties

Commercial Vehicle Inspection Specialist personnel perform routine inspections on commercial type vehicles to determine if they comply with weight, size, registration, safety, and equipment requirements, and inspect and test all types of commercial vehicle brake systems for compliance with the vehicle code and other applicable laws and regulations, and when required, refer violators to an enforcement officer for action.

Working Conditions

Commercial Vehicle Inspection Specialists' assigned to this position will work one of three shifts (two at Otay Mesa CVEF and one at Tecate). “A” shift at Otay Mesa 0430 hours to 1400 hours, and “B” shift is 1230 hours to 2200 hours. Tecate shift is 0730 hours to 1700 hours. Also includes weekends.

  • The position(s) require(s) a valid California Drivers License (CDL). You must answer the questions addressing your CDL on your application. Ensure you provide your CDL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and / or restrictions.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
