Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of high-quality / effective literacy instruction in all grades, including observing and coaching teachers to improve instructional planning, teaching practice, small-group instruction, and the use of data, assessment, and instructional technology;
  • Research and provide staff support that will improve literacy teaching and learning, including teaching strategies, assessment of literacy skills, interpretation, and use of assessment results
  • Provide literacy intervention to students who are below grade level and / or significantly above grade level;
  • Monitor and ensure that 100% of literacy assessments are completed, scored in alignment with department guidance, and entered into Data & Assessment software;
  • Lead analysis of, and develop teachers' ability to analyze scholar literacy data (daily work samples, weekly quizzes, Interim Assessments, etc) to identify strategies that will move scholars toward mastery;
  • Plan and execute weekly grade level or cohort literacy meetings aligned to support teacher internalization and execution of literacy;
  • Ensure full implementation of Resurgence Hall Literacy Instructional Frameworks;
  • Model teaching and co-teaching to increase teacher instructional skill and content knowledge;
  • Ensure full implementation of school-wide culture systems, including implementation of the behavior management cycle, incentives, logical consequences, and the Scholar and Family Handbook;
  • Provide coverage support when required to ensure scholar learning and safety continue uninterrupted;
  • Support schoolwide and grade-level initiatives such as Parent University Nights, Scholastic Book Fairs, Storybook Character Day, Wall Card Day, etc.
  • Continuously develop content and instructional expertise by deeply engaging in weekly professional development and 1-1 coaching with the Manager of Culture and Instruction;
  • Perform other duties, as deemed appropriate by the Manager and Director of Culture and Instruction
  • Qualifications / Certification. All candidates must have a Bachelor's degree; Master's degree is a plus. Georgia certification or other state certification preferred in ELA content or willingness / eligibility to pursue a teaching certification.

    Prior Experience. Minimum 4 years full-time literacy teaching experience in grades 5 - 8 with a track record for raising and sustaining scholar achievement in both general and special education populations. Teaching experience in a small group and intervention setting and acceleration / gifted setting. Minimum 3 years management experience of teams. Strong project and time management skills; ability to effectively backward plan, juggle multiple priorities with great attention to detail, and deliver consistent and timely results. Sense of humility, urgency, and customer service mindset. Excellent ability to proactively solve problems. Demonstrates excellent organizational, project planning, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Relationship builder at core.
