Position Summary : The Lead Instructional Designer / Content Developer plays a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality, online academic courses and learning materials for international students for programs offered through UTD Global. This position requires expertise in instructional design, curriculum development, digital learning technologies, and cross-cultural pedagogy. Minimum Education and Experience Master’s degree in instructional technology, education, communications, information technology, curriculum design or related field; five to seven years experience in course design, curriculum design or e-learning, preferably in higher education; experience with graphic and multimedia authoring software and Web site design software; experience in supervisory and managerial duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Education and Experience Master’s degree in in Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, or a related field. Familiarity with adult learning theories and culturally responsive pedagogy. Experience in developing scalable content for online learners. Quality Matters or similar certification. Experience developing content for online courses and programs. Strong project management and collaboration skills. Proficiency in LMS platforms and digital learning tools. Experience working with faculty and academic units. Knowledge of best practices in online course and program development. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of online curriculum and content for pre-master’s, pre-bachelor’s and other online / hybrid programs. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs), ESL specialists, and academic faculty to ensure academic rigor and alignment with graduate-level learning outcomes. Instructional Design & Learning Experience
Apply evidence-based instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE , backward design, Universal Design for Learning) to develop engaging, accessible, and culturally inclusive learning experiences. Develop multimedia learning assets, including videos, infographics, assessments, interactive modules, and simulations. Design with international learners in mind, considering time zones, cultural learning preferences, and varying levels of English proficiency. Serve as the lead on course development projects, coordinating cross-functional teams including instructional technologists, designers, faculty, and translators. Manage timelines, workflows, quality assurance processes, and version control of instructional materials. Mentor junior instructional designers and support professional development efforts within the team. Design formative and summative assessments aligned with learning outcomes. Collect and analyze feedback from students and instructors to iterate and improve course content and delivery. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and university guidelines. Technology & Innovation
Utilize the institution’s Learning Management System (Blackboard), authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline / Rise 360, Adobe Creative Suite) and other digital learning and accessibility tools (e.g., MS Office 365, Respondus, Honorlock, Blackboard Ally). Stay informed about emerging technologies, AI tools, and trends in global online education and integrate them as appropriate. Remote Notice : After the probationary period, this role may be eligible for a hybrid (partly remote / partly in office) work schedule, subject to business need and manager approval.
