PURPOSE OF JOB :
To work with classroom teachers to effectively plan, coordinate and carry out child development activities. Work with teacher to instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth needed for elementary school by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Perform a variety of basic duties to assist the teacher such as but not limited to : typing, filing, duplicating, taking inventory, data entry, administering tests, ordering supplies, placing phone calls, and materials distribution.
- Assist teachers in team teaching, team planning, as well daily and emergency routines.
- Monitor and reinforce appropriate student behavior during various activities such as play, lunch, detention, in-school-suspension or in the classroom as required.
- Assist in preparing of crafts, art, and sensory materials for children.
- Work cooperatively with parents and other classroom volunteers.
- Accompany teacher on home visits and assist in establishing support with families as needed.
- Participate on program planning committees, and parent involvement activities
- Attend orientation and in-service training sessions and serve as group leader when needed.
- Plan individual and group activities to stimulate growth in language, social, and motor skills such as learning to listen to instructions, playing with others, and using play equipment.
- Instruct children in practice of room cleanup and personal cleanliness with a goal of developing habits of caring for own self.
- Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
Sixty (60) college credit hours.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT :
Length of work year : 7 hours per day; 5 days / week; 212 days
