Technology Support Specialist
Classification : Non-Exempt, Part-Time, 12-Month Staff
Reports to : Director of Educational Technology and Innovation
Scheduled hours : Monday - Friday 8 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM (on-campus presence is essential during school hours)
Start Date : July 1; will need to be available for some limited training in May / June.
This is a part-time position focused on supporting the Office of Technology, with the opportunity to increase hours by assisting other departments, potentially transitioning into a full-time role.
Position Overview : We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Technology Support Specialist to join our technology team. This role plays a key part in supporting the technological needs of our school community, providing crucial technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and present on campus during school hours (8 : 00 AM - 3 : 30 PM) to support the school’s technological needs.
As the Technology Support Specialist, you will work closely with the Technology Team (Director of Information Systems and Director of Educational Technology) to provide comprehensive technical support for school-owned devices, digital infrastructure, and classroom media equipment.
Key Responsibilities :
Provide first and second-level technical support for faculty, staff, and students, troubleshooting software, hardware, and peripheral issues.
Complete repairs for school-owned laptops and other technology equipment.
Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation of repairs, and collaborate with the Business Office to ensure timely approval of invoices for repair charges.
Maintain and troubleshoot classroom audio-visual equipment.
Install, upgrade, and configure software applications on new and existing devices.
Manage and track loaner laptops and other equipment, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
Offer basic training and continued support to students and teachers on commonly used software, including Google Workspace for Education suite.
Complete the annual software imaging and OS installation for new devices and users.
Collaborate with the Director of Information Systems and Director of Educational Technology on special projects.
Troubleshooting and maintenance of printers.
Provide backup support for the Technology Office when required.
Assist other departments and programs on campus as needed (e.g., X Labs, Communications / Development offices).
Position Requirements :
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Strong customer service skills, especially when working with high school students (grades 9-12).
Experience in an educational environment preferred.
Ability to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative setting.
Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
Experience supporting users with Google Apps for Education.
Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintaining Apple-based hardware and software (Mac OSX experience required).
Apple Certified Mac Technician certification is highly desirable.
Experience with HTML, CSS, and XML is preferred; a willingness to learn is essential.
Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro) and other media editing software is a plus.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands :
Ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to move around campus, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and occasionally climbing stairs or using a ladder.
Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects (reasonable accommodations will be provided for heavier lifting).
Ability to install and configure equipment, requiring fine motor skills.
Ability to maintain focus in a fast-paced environment and handle technical issues as they arise.
Salary and Benefits
The anticipated hourly wage the School reasonably expects to pay candidates for the position of Technology Support Specialist is $40.15 to $44.05.
