General Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position assists with a wide range of marketing and communications efforts for the Hyland Hills Park and Recreation District. The Marketing Intern supports social media, digital marketing, content creation, and special events across district facilities. This role is ideal for a creative self-starter who stays current on digital trends and enjoys finding new ways to tell engaging stories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Create and contribute content for social media, digital campaigns, and other marketing channels - from brainstorming ideas to capturing photos, video, and short-form content.
2. Stay up to date on social and digital trends and bring fresh, creative ideas for how we can highlight Water World and the many programs, events, and amenities across the District.
3. Help build excitement and awareness for Summit Canyon, the largest renovation in Water World's history, opening summer 2026.
4. Support on-site marketing and community engagement at summer concerts, special events, and district-led activities - interacting with the public and informing the public about Hyland Hills Parks & Recreation District.
5. Other duties as needed to assist the Marketing and Communications Department.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
1. Must have a current valid driver's license.
2. Ability to work under minimal supervision and assume responsibility for tasks given.
3. Experience with videography, photography, or video editing is a plus.
4. Knowledge of social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Threads and TikTok.
5. Experience with Microsoft Office.
6. Must be able to work a minimum of 25 hours per week, as required, including some weekends, nights and holidays.
7. Must be courteous and work well with fellow team members.
8. Friendly, professional demeanor with a focus on creating a positive guest experience.
Working Environment/Physical Activities:
1. Ability to lift 30lbs.
2. Ability to climb heights up to 50-feet.
3. Work in different outdoor temperatures and climates including extremely hot and cold days.
4. Stand and walk for long periods of time.
5. Environmental conditions encountered will include noise, fumes, odors, and dust.
6. Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends on a limited basis.
Education/Experience:
1. Students enrolled in college/university pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Communication, Film or Recreation.
