The Interventional Radiology Technologist I assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the x-ray equipment in order to obtain diagnostic images.

What You'll Do

Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders.

Prepares patient for procedure and assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures.

Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology.

Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient’s age, condition, and abilities.

Follows protocols established by licensed practitioner and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety.

Identifies, prepares, and administers medications, including contrast media, as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Performs venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.

Evaluates images for quality and ensures proper recording of accurate patient identification and anatomical laterality.

Ensures complete examination is performed following protocol.

Ensures timely review and transfer of images and pertinent clinical information to a licensed practitioner.

Properly operates electronic medical record (EMR), radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS).

What We're Looking For

Education : High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program, required.

Experience :

Minimum of one year of experience in Diagnostic Radiology, required.

Minimum of one year of experience in Interventional Radiology, preferred.

Licensure / Certification :

Certified and registered by ARRT in Radiography – RT(R), required.

IV Credentialed, preferred.

Applicable state licensure, required.

Additional Skills Required : Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Thorough knowledge of interventional procedure and activity.
