Position Summary
As an Inventory Manager, this candidate’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the efficient and accurate management of inventory within our organization. This candidate will be tasked with ensuring that procedures that impact inventory controls are meticulously followed, and compliance standards are upheld to maintain optimal inventory accuracy. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to procedural excellence.
Essential Job Functions :
- Safety : Lead by example with a safety-first attitude and foster safety culture among team members.
- Personnel : This position will have one to two direct reports, and a team of between 20 to 30 material handlers.
- Parts supply : Ensure daily on time delivery is occurring and supply levels are maintained and reported.
- Design, document, and implement standardized inventory procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy in inventory management processes.
- Continuously review and update procedures to adapt to changing business needs and industry best practices.
- Maintain a high level of inventory accuracy through cycle counting, reconciliation processes, and inventory control measures.
- Investigate root causes of inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Train and educate staff members involved in inventory management on proper procedures and best practices.
- Enforce compliance with inventory procedures through regular training sessions, performance evaluations, and corrective actions when necessary.
- Work closely with other departments such as production, marketing, engineering, and finance to coordinate inventory-related activities and align inventory management strategies with organizational goals.
- Generate regular reports on inventory performance, including key metrics such as on-time delivery, turnover rate, carrying costs, and stockout rates, to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
Training and / or Experience :
Previous experience in inventory management, procurement, or supply chain management, with a proven track record of success in optimizing inventory levels and improving inventory accuracy.
Analytical Skills : Strong analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, using tools such as Excel, ERP systems, and inventory management software.
Communication Skills : Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams, external suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving Skills : Proactive problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions.
Organizational Skills : Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Attention to Detail : Keen attention to detail to parts supply and inventory accuracy, as well to inventory tracking and reporting.
Leadership Abilities : Strong leadership qualities with the ability to motivate and engage team members, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and drive results.
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, inventory control or a related field.
Physical Requirements :
Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as spend extended periods standing or walking in warehouse environments.
