LAW DEPARTMENTPosted On : 11 / 14 / 2024 Part-TimeLocation MANHATTAN Exam May Be RequiredDepartment Admin Services Salary Range : $33.14 – $45.12 Job Description The NYC Law Department is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a Timekeeping and Payroll Coordinator in the Administration Division’s Payroll & Timekeeping Unit. This position encompasses work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility performed under supervision of the Chief of Payroll and Timekeeping.The selected candidate's responsibilities will include, but are not limited to : Coordinate all leave of absence requests between the Benefits Group and Timekeeping Unit.Manage and process leave of absence writeups received from the Benefits Unit. Ensure all writeups are reviewed and processed in a timely manner.Process writeups by calculating leave balances for employees’ long-term leave of absence requests (Family Medical Leave Act, Paid Family Leave , Paid Parental Leave, Childcare, andMilitary Leave) and separation requests, such as voluntary resignations, retirements, terminations and any other employee separation.Prepare and process all managerial lump sum payments for separating managers.Assist employees with inquiries related to leave of absence and separation.Oversee, manage, and process workers’ compensation leave of absence cases, while ensuring adherence to state and local rules and regulations, and agency protocols, standards, policies,and procedures.Prepare writeups for Worker Compensations Leaves of Absence.Process Workers’ Compensation claims in the Workers’ Compensation System (WCS) and in CityTime, as well as personnel transactions in the New York City Automated Personnel System(NYCAPS), in a prompt and timely manner.Process restorations of time, as authorized by the New York City Law Department.Compile supporting documentation such as medical notes and maintain Workers’ Compensation folders.Utilize CHRMS to provide reports and prepare analysis to keep senior management informed regarding workforce planning.Update tracking systems and reports.Maintain confidential records and update case folders / files.In extenuating circumstances, may assist with timekeeping and payroll duties of unit staff.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsA master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; orA baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full- time professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas : working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning / administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning / evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.A combination of education and / or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience.
