Overview
Health Sciences IT (HSIT) provides strategic, coordinated IT support for Yale's health sciences community, including the School of Medicine, School of Nursing, School of Public Health, and other affiliated units. The IT Manager will lead within the Technology Support Services (TSS) team, overseeing desktop and endpoint support. This role focuses on high-quality service delivery for faculty, staff, and researchers, ensuring alignment with institutional needs.
This position will act as a technology advisor to Health Science IT and supported clients, addressing existing and emerging technology needs : Advising and mentoring the IT team members around professional development and advancing the priorities of the larger Technology Support Services team. Leading specific projects and initiatives within the Technology Support Services team. Monitoring and managing workloads across the IT support teams. Adjusting staffing assignments as required. Working closely with AV support teams to coordinate effort, and where possible, integrate our support operations.
Required Skills and Abilities
1. Developed analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with strong decision-making capabilities. 2. Developed interpersonal, written, communication, presentation, and organizational skills. 3. Proven ability to lead and manage staff. 4. Proven expertise with systems analysis methods and techniques.
5. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.
Preferred Skills and Abilities
Experience working in an academic medical center.
Principal Responsibilities
1. Provides supervision to a unit or group of operational or technical employees. 2. Establishes and delegates day-to day tasks to meet unit / department objectives. 3. Ensures compliance with department, University policies, procedures, and internal controls. 4. Ensures accountability and stewardship of operational, financial and staff resources in compliance with department & University standards. 5. Oversees and manages segments of larger projects, developmental trainings, presentations, and communications. 6. Provides coaching, training, and mentorship to level 1 and 2 staff and / or non-exempt staff.
Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience or equivalent education and experience.
