About the Role:

OPIS PetroChem Wire (PCW), a Dow Jones company, is a thriving provider of petrochemical market pricing and news. We provide transparency through real-time news and pricing services, and market-specific benchmark pricing reports that enable our customers to make smarter, more informed decisions.

This is a remote position, but you must be based in Houston or in a surrounding city that is within a reasonable commuting distance to Houston.

As an OPIS PCW Journalist, you will work with our senior editors in collecting and analyzing trade data to provide daily assessments for the benchmarked US Olefins and Aromatics markets. You will write alerts and create content, such as data visualizations, text messages, etc., relevant to the petrochemical industry. You will report to the Journalism Director.

You Will:

  • Accumulate spot market price transactions from industry participants via email, instant messaging and phone
  • Verify the legitimacy of transactions and adhere to OPIS pricing methodology to create daily price assessments

  • Create breaking and feature news alerts/text messages about olefins, aromatics, and other petrochemical markets

  • Contribute copy and editing to PCW reports

  • Compile and publish PCW reports

  • Network and foster relationships with sources, resources and market participants

  • Participate in webinars, podcasts, demonstrations and blogs

You Have:

  • Undergraduate degree; preferably in Business, Data Science, Journalism or related area of study
  • 3 years' market pricing and reporting experience

  • Daily publication experience (preferred)

  • Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau, Jupyter Notebook and Python proficiency (preferred)

  • Ability to travel and attend industry conferences
