We have an exciting opportunity to work as a staff Camera operator / Editor for ITV News, the UK's leading commercial News provider. The position would be based in Washington D.C. covering the top stories of the day for a UK audience.
The successful candidate would be expected to travel at short notice and to shoot and edit complete packages. Working as part of a talented and dynamic team, you would be responsible for delivering a ready to transmit report to our multi platform newsroom.
Experience in hostile environments and areas of civil disorder would be preferable. Although primarily covering the U.S. the job may require international travel.
The role offers a generous annual leave entitlement, health care and favourable working hours when news permits.
Key Responsibilities :
- To operate a camera, sound and lighting equipment to a high standard
- Undertake live transmissions
- Edit, deliver and transmit stories, both in the bureau and the field
- Maintenance, care, basic repair and fault finding to ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Responsible for health and safety in the field
- Work closely to the ITV News' Washington-based correspondents and news editor, and liaise with the London news desk
- Editoral input into news gathering
- Be prepared to travel around the world at short notice on behalf of ITN
- Show editorial understanding of major stories in the USA
- Maintenance of the bureau video library to ensure that ITN has rushes and cut stories stored efficiently for future use
- Good knowledge of Ofcom broadcast regulations and the ITN compliance manual
