Summary / Objective

The Art Coordinator is responsible for operating Boundless Community Pathways Spire Art Program and creating and directing any other art programs affiliated with Boundless in the West region. The position will work with children, adolescents, and adults. The Art Coordinator works with the Boundless team to advance our mission of inspiring the potential of people we serve.

Essential Functions

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Plan, direct, and monitor instructional methods and content of art education.

Lead and develop participants and staff in the art rooms, identifying their needs and mentoring them to improve their knowledge or skills.

Facilitate and coordinates with organizations that support artists with disabilities and related outcomes including but not limited to conference representation, exhibits, call for juried entrees, etc.

Facilitate and coordinate with area university programs to host guest artists and students.

Organize, plan, and prioritize opportunities to collaborate with other artists in the community.

Communicate with persons outside organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.

Provide art assessments, input, and recommendations related to ISP development. Confer with staff to discuss activities and upcoming opportunities for our artists.

Monitor artists’ progress and provide artists and staff with assistance in resolving any problems related to the creation and sales of the artwork.

Assure and maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment for art-related experiences for persons served.

Create and purchase materials and supplies with consideration to budgetary restraints.

Research, recommend and assist in grant applications.

Track participant’s monthly sales and relay information to the finance department to reimburse participants in a timely, effective manner.

Communicate and prepare reports and evaluations of persons served and individual progress as required.

Maintain positive, effective relations with staff, parents, and community agencies.

Provide therapeutic behavioral interventions as indicated in support plans.

Support in the supervision or care of individuals served as related to meeting daily needs including transportation, as needed.

This position will indirectly supervise program support professionals.

Work Environment

This job operates in a direct service, art, educational and sales environment both internal and external. This role routinely uses standard art supplies and materials, such as paper, paint, fabric, etc.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs may be required as well as occasionally pushing wheelchairs; pulling, twisting, bending, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 a.m. to 4 : 30 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected on occasion.

Required Education and Experience

Experience Art Education, Fine Arts, or Graphic Arts preferred.

At least 2 years of successful teaching experience.

Experience working in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health.

Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associates Degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or Graphic Arts.

More than 2 years of teaching experience.

More than 2 years of experience working in the field of intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health.
