WHO We Are :
Self-Help started in 1980 with a focus on economic inequality especially in communities that have faced systemic barriers in building wealth. At the core of what Self-Help does is a drive to create and protect ownership and economic opportunity. In other words, we’re committed to economic justice! Economic Justice means that all communities have the basic infrastructure they need to thrive, from high quality schools to grocery stores selling fresh foods resources that support opportunity at a neighborhood level regardless of demographics, income, or wealth. Since our founding, we’ve constantly sought to find new ways to pursue greater economic justice : from providing fair and affordable loans, to working with partners to demand that lawmakers change unjust policies.
WHAT You'll DO :
- Develop expertise in the complex and evolving data model that supports the holistic organization.

- Present findings with internal and external audiences - which may Self-Help leadership, CDFI peers, and funders – with clear and compelling written reports, verbal communication, and visual presentations.
- Independently manage projects to meet data needs, with minimal oversight
- Thought-partner with DPI colleagues and provide analytical support on major proposals and support DPI team in sourcing financial and impact data, and developing performance projections, and evaluation frameworks.
- Work with DPI colleagues in fundraising, investor relations, compliance, policy, impact assessment, and community engagement to ensure that data systems, analyses, and reports are adequately serving their needs and work with Self-Help’s Data Intelligence Group (DIG) to optimize them.
- Use Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools such as Power BI to analyze and aggregate data generated by Self-Help’s programmatic activities.
- Build complex reports, dashboards, and workflows to provide accurate, relevant, multidimensional and, when appropriate, visually attractive data for reporting to various internal and external constituencies.
- Collaborate with internal Data Intelligence Group (DIG) to design data processes and reporting standards, ensure data accuracy, and resolve reporting requests.
- Respond to data requests from the DPI team and, at times, throughout the organization, by helping requesters understand their needs and options, framing queries, pulling data, reviewing results and sharing reports in a compelling format and storing reports of generic interest.
