Job Title : Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to perform development design and analysis of mechanical systems for advanced aircraft. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced, research-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently perform preliminary design for the primary flight controls actuation system on a large cargo experimental aircraft.
- Create design notes, track weight, maintain BOM, and produce other engineering artifacts.
- Conduct kinematic analysis on control mechanisms.
- Leverage existing designs from comparable aircraft.
- Perform integration design for flight controls and adjacent systems such as hydraulics.
- Standard part sizing and space claim.
- Select COTS components.
- Design installation processes.
- Manage the functional and physical interfaces between the primary flight controls actuation system and the vehicle by maintaining ICMs.
- Communicate design requirements and performance information between the design team, management, customers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Work Environment
Work on an exciting project such as the DARPA Liberty Lifter, a large cargo experimental aircraft. The environment is fast-paced and research-oriented, requiring strong collaboration among team members and effective communication with various stakeholders. Candidates will use advanced tools and technologies, including CATIA software.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00 / hr.
