Job descriptionProficiency in G-code, M-code, and CAD / CAM software. Strong understanding of metal and composite materials, tooling, and machining techniques. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, GD&T, and schematics. Experience with multi-axis CNC machines (3-, 4-, and 5-axis preferred). Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus. SUMMARY OF POSITION This position is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing CNC machining programs for precision manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming, machining processes, and CAD / CAM software, ensuring efficient and high-quality production. This position requires attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement. This position will report directly to the Director of Specialty Manufacturing. The duties of this position are those described below. This job description does not state or imply that the duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management. Actual Job Duties –Essential Functions Responsibilities Include :
- Develop and write CNC programs using Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360, or other CAD / CAM software.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and optimize CNC machines to improve production efficiency.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machine parameters for optimal machining performance.
- Conduct test runs and first-article inspections to validate program accuracy.
- Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and production teams to refine designs and improve manufacturability.
- Maintain and update CNC programs to meet evolving production needs.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO, AS9100, or other industry-specific requirements).
- Diagnose and resolve programming or machine-related issues to minimize downtime.
- Train and support machinists on CNC machine operation and best practices.
- Maintain detailed documentation of programs, machine settings, and process improvements.
