Labor and delivery rn Jobs in Downey, CA

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN) to join the Birthplace unit in our California facility. This role is responsible for providing safe compassionate and evidence-based care to mothers and newborns throughout the antepartum intrapartum and postpartum stages. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing dynamic clinical situations and committed to delivering exceptional family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities :

Deliver safe high-quality patient care using the nursing process : assessment planning implementation and evaluation

Provide direct patient care within the scope of nursing practice and established standards of care

Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery recognizing and responding to emergent changes

Assist with vaginal and cesarean deliveries including fetal monitoring medication administration and recovery support

Guide and educate patients and families through labor birth and postpartum transitions

Collaborate with physicians midwives anesthesiologists and support staff to ensure positive outcomes

Direct and delegate responsibilities to other nursing personnel as appropriate

Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients families and visitors

Utilize the chain of command when necessary to advocate for patient safety and well-being

Qualifications :

Current California RN License (Required)

BLS and ACLS certification (AHA Required)

NRP certification (Required)

Fetal Monitoring certification (Preferred or Required depending on facility)

Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience (Preferred)

Strong clinical judgment adaptability and communication skills

Ability to work effectively in high-pressure fast-paced environments
