Job description

This person in this position serves as Medical Director of the Clinical Cell Processing Laboratory (CCPL), Associate Director of the Therapeutic Cell Production Core (TCPC), and Assistant Director of Transfusion Services summarized as follows. This position will have cross-functional reporting, primarily reporting to the Chief of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine with dotted-line reporting to SVP & Chief Research Operations Officer.

The CCPL is a clinical cell therapy lab supporting Seattle Children's Hospital cellular products pipeline and the CCPL Medical Director is responsible for supporting the development of standard practices and FACT accreditation and ensuring medical safety and regulatory compliance of the CCPL. The CCPL Medical Director will be responsible for working with clinical and research teams to maximize impact and safety, oversee clinical operational aspects of the CCPL and serve as the Processing Facility Medical Director for CCPL FACT accreditation and as needed, as the Processing Facility Director. They will provide on-site, telephone, or electronic consultation as needed for relevant activities and conduct educational programs for staff and trainees regarding cell-based products and procedures. The person will also be responsible for identifying areas for process improvement as part of CCPL program quality management plans and implementing strategic plans to resolve any identified weaknesses.

The TCPC is the Seattle Children's Research Institute's research cell therapy laboratory. The Associate Medical Director is responsible for working with the TCPC Medical Director and TCPC Staff to support research processing workflows, to develop IND-appropriate workflows to support research products, to partner with TCPC teams as necessary for confirmation research product release, and to develop next steps if products are out of IND-defined specifications.

As the Assistant Director of Transfusion Services at Seattle Children's Hospital, this person will also provide clinical cross on-call coverage for Transfusion Medicine services (approx. 1 week on-call per month) and participate in hospital transfusion medicine clinical support.

Compensation : $283,649-$425,464

Required Education and Experience

MD / DO Degree.

Board certification in Clinical Pathology.

Board certification in Transfusion Medicine.

Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges at Seattle Children's.

Faculty appointment at the University of Washington.

Required Credentials

Licensed as a Physician in the State of Washington.

Meets the Academic Rank eligibility requirements for Assistant Professor in the UW Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology.

Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.

All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.

Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's.

Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.

Preferred

At least three (3) years clinical experience in Transfusion Medicine.

At least three (3) years clinical experience in Hematopoietic Cellular Therapies and Immune Effector Cells.

Training in an accredited post graduate medical education program which includes collection, processing, and administration of cellular therapies (e.g., transfusion medicine, apheresis, immune effector cells, clinical pathology).

Salary Information

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
