Position Overview
Wetland Studies and Solutions, Inc., a Davey company, is looking to expand our surveying services and is seeking a Professional Land Surveyor to help start and manage a surveying department in our Richmond, Virginia office. The ideal candidate will be licensed with 10+ years' experience of field and office surveying practices and techniques.
Job Duties
Primary responsibilities of the position will include oversight and management of the newly created survey department. The successful candidate will be able to perform and manage all tasks related to surveying projects including but not limited to Civil 3D drafting; boundary surveys; plat recordation; legal descriptions; topographic and bathymetric surveys; construction and as-built surveys; natural and cultural resource surveys; and wetland and stream surveys; and all associated computations.
This position will also include field and office work, project coordination, marketing, developing and maintaining client relationships, proposal preparation, and project scoping and budgeting. Candidate must be able to perform in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times, be an adept problem solver and effective communicator, and be willing to learn and take on new tasks. Position will include field work.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- VA Licensed Surveyor – in good standing
- 10+ years of progressive surveying / drafting work experience
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Working knowledge of modern survey methods
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Civil 3D software
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task with respect to projects, CAD standards, etc. to achieve deadlines
- Strong attention to details while maintaining consistent workflow
- Ability to work under minimal supervision & resolve issues independently based on project and company standards
- Willingness / ability to expand knowledge of CAD and design abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
