Job description
Overview
We are seeking an Immigration Lawyer to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in immigration law, asylum, family-based immigration, U-visa cases, VAWA cases, naturalizations, and DACA.
Responsibilities
Reviewing applications for immigration benefits for eligibility, completeness, accuracy, and sufficiency of evidence.
Representing clients during interviews at USCIS and during hearing before the immigration court (The Executive Office for Immigration Review, ("EOIR")).
Consulting with clients and potential clients regarding their immigration status, options for relief, and relevant changes in immigration law.
Conduct thorough legal research to stay updated on immigration laws and policies.
Drafting and submitting briefs to USCIS, EOIR, BIA, and Ninth Circuit.
Supervise legal assistants.
Manage deadlines.
Requirements
Juris Doctor (JD) degree
Must be admitted to practice law in at least one state or the District of Columbia. (Immigration is a federal practice and thus admission to the California state bar is not necessarily required.)
Experience handling asylum cases and / or matters before the immigration court is preferred . Experience handling family-based immigration, U-visa cases, VAWA cases, naturalizations, and DACA is helpful.
Fluency or proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred .
