Job description

Legal Assistant

  • The pay rate is 21.63 an hour
  • Monday thru Friday : 8 : 00 am to 5 : 00 pm

Primary purpose is to provide paralegal, notary, and any additional assistance needed to support Attorneys in litigation and account resolution efforts;including but not limited to the oversight and organization of all matters in litigation, to ensure all cases information, payments, and filings are managed in an efficient and effective manner.

Secondary purpose includes supporting Denver office as needed with complaint responses and other matters as staff shortages require.

Job Description :

1.      Maintain documentation of all litigation accounts and active cases.

2.      Manage all litigation account payment plans, including taking payment, communicating with account holders, sending payment reminders, and notifying attorneys of any missed payments or requests for alteration to payment plans from account holders.

3.      Regular preparation of new litigation accounts, and provision of notes on waivers available and other account details as instructed by attorneys.

4.      Monthly preparation of NWP invoice sheets and collaboration with accounting to review and finalize same.

5.      Researching account holder information in support of filings, and preparation of reports in advance of contempt hearings.

6.      Identification of and management of couriers and service efforts consistent with notice periods as required through the litigation process.

7.      Daily update to litigation tracking, garnishment tracking, and payment plan tracking sheets.

8.      Review attorney’s status accounts, and notify managing attorneys of same on bi-monthly basis.

9.      Prepare various daily, weekly, and monthly production and collection reports as instructed;including bankruptcy accounts.

10.  Research validation of debt requests and act as a client liaison with Northwest Parkway and as otherwise directed to gather required documents to submit to debtors;Prepare response letters to debtor’s disputes and consumer letters as needed in support of office manager.

11.  Collaborate with and support the office manager and staff of clerks.

12.  Regular updating of records, organization of accounts, account balances and details.

13.  Perform any other duties as assigned by Managing Attorneys

Job Requirements :

1.      Ability to prioritize tasks as instructed, and responsiveness to managing attorneys.

2.      Strong skills of computer (Cubs, MS Office, internet, email, word processing)

3.      Strong Written and Communication skills

4.     Detail oriented with understanding importance of accuracy

5.     Efficiency

8.     Management of processes.

9.     Accountability (ownership of any errors that occur)

10.  Ability to manage calendar of tasks without ongoing oversight.
