DESCRIPTION

Alumni, Annual Giving and Pipeline Development is a unit within Advancement responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of a campus-wide annual giving initiative that supports the campus' $2B fundraising Campaign For UC San Diego.
The Preuss School, located on the East Campus - east of Interstate 5 of the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in La Jolla, California, is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. As part of UCSD, a major research institution, The Preuss School also serves as a model school to study and develop best practices in the preparation of low-income, urban students for college admission.
Working closely with the Superintendent of The Preuss School UC San Diego, and the Director of Development, the Assistant will serve as liaison to the Preuss School Board of Directors. Administrative responsibilities include : calendar support, assisting with the preparation, research and gathering of materials and information for Board meetings and Campus Tour events, drafting, editing, and proofreading correspondence, Board briefings and reports, and website management of Board documents. As requested, manage special projects of a highly confidential and sensitive nature.
Working closely with Preuss administrative staff, this position will administer programs to include the Independent Study Program and the School Site Council. This work includes similar calendaring and email, as well as creating documentation and reports for district and government agencies and audits. Working closely with teachers, students, and families, the assistant will oversee the initiation and completion of Independent Study Contracts and verify credit for Average Daily Attendance (ADA) adjustments. The position will also support the Principal's leadership of the School Site Council, by planning, managing the election process, hosting, documenting required meetings and actions, and website management of all SSC documents.
- Occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated experience providing senior-level administrative support, including organizing and prioritizing tasks, scheduling meetings, serving as a liaison to on- and off- campus entities, and managing general office needs.
Experience in arranging and coordinating logistics for meetings and events. Experience arranging travel, including booking, creating itineraries, and reconciling expenses.
Demonstrated administrative skills to include the ability to organize and prioritize tasks with strong use of initiative, sound judgment, independent thought, and precise attention to detail with high level of professionalism.
Demonstrated interpersonal, written and oral communication skills that demonstrate correct grammar usage, syntax, edit and format, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both in person and on the telephone in a positive manner to a diverse and demanding group of people including major gift prospects, donors, volunteers, prominent social, business, and governmental figures, and campus administrators. Ability to use tact, diplomacy, and discretion, with emphasis of flexibility and professionalism.
Proficiency in using and adapting computer software programs, applications and tools to meet office needs. Proficient in the use of software applications necessary in administrative work, including database to retrieve current and historical information to compile reports and briefings, spreadsheets, and graphics programs and the ability to implement new systems to increase productivity, using e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and calendar applications.
Demonstrated high degree of integrity, dependability, use of sound judgment, diplomacy and resourcefulness, with a strong work ethic. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters, including those related to sensitive donor relations.
Proven organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work with frequent interruptions under constantly changing priorities in a fast-paced operation while exhibiting extreme attention to detail and high degree of accuracy at all times.
Knowledge of the techniques of donor / prospect research with the ability to extract and distill pertinent / critical information from multiple sources.
Demonstrated ability to operate office equipment proficiently, including copiers, scanners, and FAX machines; demonstrated expertise in PC based computer software.
Proven resourcefulness in independently finding appropriate solutions to complex problems, operational and administrative, and use of initiative in implementing solutions or making recommendations. Ability to anticipate problems and take necessary actions to mitigate potential negative effects.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range : $40,700 - $85,295 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent : $19.49 - $40.85
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position.
