Library Associate - Rahway Public Library

The Rahway Public Library is looking for a library associate to meet a number of challenges in our reference and circulation departments. Our ideal candidate would be adaptive, tech-savvy, command strong customer service skills, and possess a sense of civic mindedness. Enthusiasm for public service is required. Skills or interest in computer troubleshooting and other IT topics is highly desirable. We will train the right candidate.

This position is a permanent, part-time, civil service, union position (19 hours per week). The schedule will include Monday (9-4), Wednesday (1-8), and a full day on Saturday (9-5). Saturday availability is required. The 2025 hourly rate is $29.83. Prorated sick, vacation, and personal leave are provided. Tuition reimbursement up to $2,500 per year is available. This position will also be added to the in-charge rotation, garnering an extra $9 / hr during those hours. Appointment is provisional for three months. Public library experience is preferred. A bachelor’s degree is required.
