DCS is seeking Electricians capable of successfully performing repair, replacement, and routine / preventative maintenance on State-owned roadway and facility grounds lighting systems. General duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
Perform routine and preventative maintenance; underground locates; diagnostic and troubleshooting; and repair / replace work activities of the lighting system. Typical lighting system components consist of high mast and conventional light poles, conductors, fixtures, luminaries, pull boxes, load centers, surge protectors, meters, photocells, breaker, fuses, etc.
Respond to notifications of malfunctioning or damaged lighting assets to perform necessary mitigation and perform subsequent repairs in a timely manner.
Proper use and maintenance of equipment and tools that include, but not are limited to, utility trucks, trailers, bucket truck, forklift, crane, skid loader, excavator, trencher, air compressor, generator, meter reading devices, underground utilities locators, electrician tools, and power tools, and hand tools.
Setup and maintain temporary traffic control work zones within the State right-of-way in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.
Maintain accurate and timely work documentation for timekeeping, task reporting, material inventory, etc.
Adherence with guidelines, standards, practices, and procedures governing the installation and maintenance of street lighting systems.
Additional duties and responsibilities for Level I and II Electricians include, but are not limited to, the following :
Perform field inspection to identify work needs.
Determine material, supplies, and outsourced work need quantities.
Assess and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Monitor inventory levels of supplies, tools, and materials.
Initiate purchase requisitions for new / replacement supplies and materials.
Obtain estimates from and / or procure vendors and subcontractors as needed.
Plan, organize, and perform or coordinate outsourcing of major severity work needs.
Supervise and provide technical work direction and guidance to teammates.
Ensure quality workmanship standards are being met and initiate actions necessary to correct deviations.
Qualifications
EDUCATION :
High school diploma or equivalent
Two (2) years of experience in the electrical trade operating, maintaining, and / or servicing electrical systems required.
EXPERIENCE :
Knowledge of electrical theory and methods, materials, tools, equipment, and systems used in the electrical trade.
Read and understand OSHA standards to ensure a safe workplace.
Safely and effectively operate and maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles.
Maintain employer provided personal protective equipment.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Perform math calculations (add, subtract, multiple, divide, percentages, and measurements).
Perform and maintain accurate recordkeeping.
Work in elevated locations out of a bucket truck.
Navigate across even and uneven field terrain.
Perform duties in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.
