ACT Supported Living provides in-home supports to adults with developmental / intellectual disabilities who live in their own home. Generally the focus is on activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, bathing, cooking, cleaning, budgeting, taking medication, assisting with minor health care tasks such as checking blood pressure, blood sugar, weight. This is not a medical position, no medical training is required. Individuals receiving support in this program require a higher degree of direct support and so generally have staff support 7 days per week. The specific tasks, roles, duties of the staff depend on the needs of the individual client.

For this live-in position, the concerns are that the individual may need support outside of a regularly scheduled shift, and so a staff lives within the same housing as the client. Staff have their own private bedroom, other facilities, such as bathroom, may be shared or private- this all depends on the housing situation of the individual client. By state regulation, ACT does not provide housing to these clients, they have to qualify for their own housing and so the circumstances are varied. ACT pays for the rent and utilities of the live-in staff, food and other personal needs are covered by the staff themself. A scheduled shift for the position is established equaling 40 hours per week at the specified hourly rate. Again, the timing of the shift is determined by the needs of the client and availability of other staff, but generally compromise can be made if needed.

Having other work, school, or activities often does not interfere with this position, as the needs are generally early or late in the day, and again, usually the specific schedule can be navigated based on yours and the clients needs.
