Job description

Director, Logistics Procurement

Odyssey Logistics is a global logistics and supply chain partner helping businesses optimize performance through fully integrated, end-to-end solutions. We connect transportation, technology, and expertise across a broad network of services including 3PL and 4PL managed services, multimodal and intermodal transport, warehousing, trucking, Jones Act Ocean, and customs brokerage, ensuring goods move reliably, efficiently, and intelligently around the world.

Today, Odyssey supports more than 6,000 customers globally, delivering scalable, data driven solutions across complex supply chains. What started with a single client has grown into a dynamic, evolving organization focused on performance, precision, and long term partnership.

Our work is complex, fast moving, and highly collaborative. Success here requires people who think strategically, operate with urgency, and navigate across functions to solve real business challenges. We value individuals who take ownership, challenge the status quo, and turn insight into action.

Our culture is grounded in five core values: Win Together, Innovate Boldly, Drive Results, Customer Centric, and Guide with Care. These are not just principles; they shape how we make decisions, partner with customers, and show up for each other.

At Odyssey, you are not just part of a company; you are part of building what comes next.

The Role

Work Model: Hybrid

Work Schedule: Monday Friday, standard business hours (average 40 hrs/week)

Travel Requirements: Yes, up to 25%

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes

Reports to: Sr. Director, Logistics Procurement

*All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States. No relocation allowance will be considered unless specifically addressed.

Summary / Primary Role: The Director, Logistics Procurement leads Odyssey's enterprise transportation procurement strategy, spanning both truckload and dry/liquid bulk sourcing. This role directly manages the Bulk and Truckload Procurement teams and is accountable for the cost competitiveness, service reliability, and performance of the full freight procurement portfolio. The Director serves as the primary escalation point and executive liaison for procurement strategy, market conditions, and carrier performance across all transportation modes.

    • Approve large-scale sourcing events and make final award decisions on strategic or high-value opportunities.
  • Carrier & Market Strategy
    • Own top-tier carrier relationships across both networks, set scorecard and KPI targets (OTD, acceptance, cost, compliance), and direct corrective action when performance falls short.
    • Monitor transportation market trends (capacity, rates, regulatory conditions) and brief executive leadership on cost and service impacts.
  • Executive & Stakeholder Partnership
    • Serve as the primary procurement liaison to business unit presidents and executive leadership on cost, service, and sourcing strategy.
    • Partner with Finance, Operations, and Master Data leadership on cross-functional initiatives affecting procurement, routing, and budget processes.
  • Financial Performance & Process Improvement
    • Own the procurement budget and cost-savings targets, and lead negotiation of the most strategic, highest-value carrier contracts.
    • Drive continuous improvement and standardization of sourcing processes and reporting, and prepare executive-level business reviews on procurement performance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 10+ years of logistics or supply chain experience, including 7+ years of transportation procurement experience (sourcing, contracting, category and supplier management); experience spanning both truckload and bulk/liquid modes preferred
  • 5+ years of direct people management experience, with a proven track record of leading managers and building high-performing teams
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong executive presence, with the ability to communicate and influence stakeholders from front-line employees to the VP/President level
