Job description

Summary

  • Participates in prematurity prevention education through the usage of 17P.
  • Abstracts medical and legal records regarding infant mortality.
  • Compiles data and presents cases at FIMR meetings.

Regular Part-Time employees have no guarantee of continued employment. Individuals employed in these County authorized positions have a regularly assigned work schedule between sixteen (16) and twenty-eight (28) hours per workweek. Regular Part-Time employees are not eligible for benefits.

Grant funded.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Educates individuals and families regarding 17P and prematurity prevention.

2. Conducts initial assessments and provides follow up to 17P eligible participants.

3. Abstracts information from the medical records for the FIMR program.

4. Contacts hospitals to retrieve medical records for specified cases.

5. Completes appropriate abstraction forms and submits case summary to FIMR Coordinator.

6. Attends case review team meetings and presents case summaries.

7. Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements

NOTE :   YOU MUST FILL OUT THE WORK HISTORY and EDUCATION SECTIONS OF APPLICATION TO SHOW YOU HAVE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION AS REQUIRED BY HIRING DEPARTMENT OR BE DISQUALIFIED.

TO APPLY, must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing .

TO APPLY, must have One (1) full-time year of nursing work experience. Experience in Fetal Infant Mortality Review a plus.

TO APPLY, must have a current Texas RN license. .

MUST PROVIDE LICENSING AGENCY AND LICENSE NUMBER IN "CERTIFICATES AND LICENSING" SECTION OF THE APPLICATION OR RISK DISQUALIFICATION.

TO APPLY, must possess a valid Texas driver license .

Must have a clinical background in public health, obstetrics, pediatrics, neonatology, or perinatology and / or an understanding of community health care systems and resources.

Organization and people skills are needed. Good documentation and communication skills are required.

Must have ability to use standard word processing programs.

If hired, must provide proof of educational attainment

at New Hire Processing or during the promotional process.
